The Ivory Coast national team began its journey to defend the Africa Cup of Nations title with a precious 1-0 victory over the Mozambique national team in their match held on Wednesday evening as part of the Group Six competitions.

The Ivory Coast team wasted a number of opportunities, but Amad Diallo’s goal at the beginning of the second half was enough to secure the win and earn the first three points.

In the opening match of Group Six in Morocco, the Ivory Coast team struggled to break through the Mozambique defense in the first half, which saw great parity between the two teams. However, “The Elephants” strongly dominated play after the break, without capitalizing on the many chances they created.

Diallo shot the ball into the net in the 49th minute, securing the three points in rainy conditions.
