The National Statistical Institute announced on Monday that the inflation rate in Turkey fell to 30.89% in the last month of 2025, compared to 44.38% in the same month of 2024.

Over the entire year of 2025, the rate of price increases was 34.88%, its lowest level in four years, compared to 58.51% in 2024.

However, it remains higher than the 30% rate recorded in 2021. In May 2024, the inflation level reached 75%, before beginning to decline, according to the institute.

Price increases in education, housing, and health
The institute stated that the prices that rose last year were related to education (over 66%), housing (49.5%), food (28.31%), and health (31%).

However, these official figures have been questioned by a group of independent economists (ENAG), who believe that inflation in December 2025 reached 56.14% on an annual basis, rising by 2.11% in December alone.

Turkey

Turkey is a transcontinental nation straddling Eastern Europe and Western Asia, with a rich history as the heartland of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. Its modern identity was forged under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who established the Republic of Turkey in 1923 following the empire’s collapse after World War I. The country is renowned for its diverse cultural heritage, featuring iconic sites like Hagia Sophia, the ancient city of Ephesus, and the unique landscapes of Cappadocia.

These institutes play a critical role in informing public policy and providing reliable information for research and decision-making.

ENAG
