Ankara, January 29, 2026 – The Turkish Foreign Minister met on Thursday in the Turkish capital, Ankara, with the Deputy Defense Minister of the Government of National Unity to discuss enhancing cooperation in military fields.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Libya and Turkey in the military and defense fields. It explored mechanisms for developing training and capacity-building programs and strengthening coordination between the relevant authorities in both countries.
The Deputy Defense Minister presented the Defense Ministry’s vision regarding military and security cooperation files and the priorities for the next phase. The meeting also discussed the path toward unifying and building the military institution, exchanged views on a number of regional files of mutual interest, and reviewed developments related to security and stability in the region.
Both sides emphasized during the meeting the importance of continued consultation and coordination in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries.
