The meeting hall of the Libyan Olympic Committee in the capital, Tripoli, will host the technical meeting and the draw ceremony for the first stage of the Libya Volleyball Finals this Wednesday, with the participation of nine clubs representing the elite of the sport in the country.

Participating in this stage are the clubs: Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli Benghazi, Al-Nasr, Al-Swehli, Al-Ittihad Misrata, Al-Afriqi Zliten, Al-Ahli Tripoli, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Jazeera, in a strong competition expected to feature high technical levels.

The matches of the first stage will be held in a single round-robin format (home matches only), where the nine teams will compete against each other, with the teams ranked first through sixth qualifying for the Hexagonal Stage.

The Hexagonal Stage will be held in a cluster format and in two phases; the first Hexagonal cluster will be hosted by the city of Misrata, while the second cluster will be held in the city of Benghazi, as part of a geographical distribution aimed at ensuring the success of the competitions and providing the best organizational conditions.

The team that accumulates the highest number of points across both clusters will be crowned champion of the Libya Volleyball Championship for the 2025 – 2026 sports season, at the conclusion of competitions expected to be full of excitement and rivalry among the top clubs in the sport.

Tripoli

Tripoli is the capital and largest city of Libya, located on the country’s Mediterranean coast. Historically, it was founded by the Phoenicians in the 7th century BC and has since been ruled by the Romans, Arabs, Ottomans, and Italians, serving as a major port and cultural crossroads. Al-Swehli

Al-Swehli refers to Ramadan al-Swehli, a prominent Libyan resistance leader against Italian colonization in the early 20th century. He is particularly remembered for his role in the 1911-1912 war and for leading a significant uprising in the Misrata region. Today, his name is commemorated in Libyan history and in landmarks like Tripoli’s Al-Swehli Square.

Al-Ittihad Misrata

Al-Ittihad Misrata is a Libyan professional football club based in the city of Misrata, founded in 1944. It is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the country, historically serving as a significant cultural and sporting institution for the city.

Al-Afriqi Zliten

Al-Jazeera

Misrata

It has historically featured top clubs from across the country, though its scheduling and continuity have often been impacted by the nation’s political instability and conflict since the 2011 revolution.
