Al-Ittihad team lost its match against the UAE national team in the semi-final of the Dubai Basketball Championship on Saturday evening. The match ended in favor of the UAE national team with a score of 97–96, after a strong and exciting encounter that was decided in the final seconds.
Al-Ittihad started the match strongly and took an early lead of 4–0, then 7–5, then 11–5, before the UAE national team equalized at 11–11. The teams then exchanged the lead, with Al-Ittihad ending the first quarter ahead at 24–21.
A strong start for Al-Ittihad
The UAE national team began the second quarter better, scoring six consecutive points to lead 27–24. The following minutes saw repeated ties at 27–27 and 29–29, but Al-Ittihad regained control to lead 38–31 and 45–37, ending the first half ahead at 53–47.
At the start of the second half, the match became tied again at 58–58 and 60–60, before the UAE national team advanced to 65–60 and then 68–65. However, Al-Ittihad responded strongly, scoring seven consecutive points to end the third quarter in their favor at 75–71.

In the final fourth quarter, Al-Ittihad continued its lead at 81–72, 90–87, then 96–92 and 96–94. However, in the last two seconds of the match, the UAE national team managed to score a deadly three-pointer, securing the victory at 97–96.
The Dubai Basketball Championship concludes tomorrow with two matches: Al-Ittihad will face Lebanon’s Beirut to determine the third-place winner and the bronze medalist, followed by the championship final for the tournament cup between Tunisia’s Club Africain and the UAE national team.
