Tripoli, December 18, 2025 – The eleventh meeting of the Technical Committee for Border Control was held at the headquarters of the General Administration of the Customs Authority in the capital, Tripoli. The meeting was chaired by the Director of the Land Border Control Department, with active participation from representatives of the European Union and relevant national authorities.

The meeting reviewed a comprehensive assessment of activities carried out during the previous period, focusing on future development plans aimed at enhancing the efficiency of land border crossings. High on the agenda were infrastructure development projects at the “Wazin” and “Nalut” crossings, ensuring smooth transit flow and improved services.

The committee announced the imminent operation of advanced detection and surveillance equipment, in addition to the completion of the installation of a photovoltaic camera surveillance system. Attendees also emphasized the importance of supporting joint training programs and capacity building for personnel working at the “Ras Ajdir” and “Al-Awsah” crossings, as well as developing skills for gathering information from open sources to combat cross-border crime.

Participants discussed maintenance procedures for the automated inspection vehicle at the “Wazin” crossing and providing the necessary technical supplies to ensure continuous operation with the highest standards of accuracy.

Historically, it has served as a key transit route for trade and migration, with its modern border post established following the delineation of boundaries between the two countries in the 20th century.

Al-Awsah

Al-Awsah is an ancient fortified village located in Saudi Arabia’s Asir region, historically known for its distinctive stone and mud architecture and strategic position. It served as an important defensive and residential site, reflecting the traditional building techniques and way of life in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
