Tripoli, February 07, 2026 – The Supreme Judicial Council considered that standing with the unity and independence of the judicial body has become a national duty, affirming its commitment to the unity of the body – the sole legal representative of the judicial authorities.
This came in a statement issued yesterday, Friday, in which it stated that it had followed with great regret what is happening in the judicial arena, particularly the attempts by some to undermine the unity and independence of the judiciary by using tools that consider themselves part of the constitutional affairs to reach solutions that replace the Supreme Judicial Council with a harmful council, and to achieve goals that can only be described as narrow political and personal interests, in a manner that confiscates all other authorities.
It added that in order to preserve the unity of the judiciary, act responsibly, and for the greater good of the nation, the Council exercised the highest degrees of discipline for a period of time in the face of persistent intransigence from those carrying these goals to impose a fait accompli that has no result other than tampering with the judicial body during a sensitive and dangerous phase in the nation’s history, at a time when it is in the greatest need of unity above all else.
The Supreme Judicial Council affirmed that it will remain the sole legal representative of the judicial authorities and will not abandon its commitment to the unity of the body and its members under any pressure, while disregarding any decisions issued by others, and not submitting to those determined to compromise its unity with void decisions. It noted that history has recorded the clear, honorable positions of all members of the judicial authorities in favor of the unity of their body and their awareness of those who tried to divide it, and your Council will not waver in its adherence to the unity of the steadfast judicial body.
