
Tripoli, January 5, 2026 – The State Council voted to elect “Salah Al-Kamishi” as President of the High National Elections Commission with 63 votes, compared to 33 votes for Al-Arif Al-Teir.
According to the voting session, the number of voters in the second round between Al-Kamishi and Al-Teir was 103 out of 107 members who attended the session.
No reaction has yet been issued by the House of Representatives or the Elections Commission regarding the State Council’s vote to form a new commission council.
Last week, the House of Representatives issued a decision to maintain the previous commission council, while completing the election of vacant positions in the previous council.
