The Attorney General announced that legal measures have been taken regarding the recently halted fuel supply and oil exchange file, following investigations that uncovered widespread corruption suspicions.
It was clarified that an order has been issued to detain the current Director of International Marketing at the National Oil Corporation pending investigation on charges of squandering public funds, alongside summoning other accused individuals. Furthermore, the Tripoli Court of Appeal ruled to imprison the former Director of Marketing after he was convicted in a case involving the supply of fuel that did not meet specifications.
The Attorney General indicated that, starting next February, the National Oil Corporation will begin purchasing fuel directly from international companies at a value of 2.5 billion dollars, confirming that petroleum products had been sold for approximately 45 dollars below their reference price.
He also revealed a decision to conduct auctions for selling petroleum products, which is expected to generate state revenues ranging between 300 and 500 million dollars. This step aims to enhance transparency and increase public revenues.
This move comes as part of efforts to confront corruption and ensure better management of Libya’s energy file, contributing to the protection of public funds and the achievement of economic stability.
