The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity confirmed the continuation of its decision to prohibit public attendance at Premier League matches.
This confirmation came following a meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli. The meeting included the director of the Minister of Interior’s office, the security advisor, a representative from the Ministry of Sports, a number of sports clubs, media personnel, and former athletes.
The meeting discussed ways to reduce the phenomenon of sports fanaticism and hate speech in sports media. The Ministry stressed the necessity of integrating efforts between security and sports institutions to ensure competitions are held in a safe and organized atmosphere.
It affirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to reducing manifestations of fanaticism and entrenching the values of fair competition.
