Benghazi, December 22, 2025 – The Legislative and Constitutional Committee of the House of Representatives discussed a number of draft laws referred to it during its regular meeting in Benghazi on Monday.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed a draft law to establish the National Authority for Science and Technology, examining the project’s objectives and operational mechanisms, and presented its legal and regulatory vision to achieve the intended purpose of its establishment.

The committee also discussed a draft law to increase the salaries of members of the armed forces, as part of supporting the military institution and improving the conditions of its personnel, while taking into account the relevant legal and financial aspects.

Furthermore, the committee examined a draft law for the protection of women, based on the latest revised version prepared by specialists and academics, in light of recent recorded violations against women, which necessitates urgent legislative intervention to provide the necessary legal protection.

The committee affirmed that the study of the draft law for the protection of women was conducted within legal and legitimate frameworks, in accordance with the provisions and general rules of Islamic Sharia, while considering societal values and constitutional guarantees.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to refer the aforementioned draft laws to the House of Representatives to take the necessary actions regarding them, in accordance with the approved legislative procedures.
