The national under-15 football team will play its first match in the North African Football Union Championship this Wednesday evening when it faces its Tunisian counterpart at the Sousse stadium. The tournament is being hosted by Tunisia during this month of February.

The team entered its intensive preparations at its training camp, where the technical staff focused on raising the players’ physical and technical readiness and putting the final touches before entering the continental competition.

The Libyan Football Federation stated that this participation comes as part of its commitment to providing strong competitive opportunities for youth category players and gaining the necessary experience by facing North African teams. This is in preparation for building a generation capable of representing Libyan football in upcoming competitions.

North African Football Union Championship

The North African Football Union Championship (UNAF) is a regional football competition for national teams from North Africa, organized by the Union of North African Football Federations. Established in 2005, it was created to promote football and strengthen sporting ties between member nations, including Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia.

The stadium has hosted significant events, including matches during the 1994 and 2004 African Cup of Nations tournaments.

Libyan Football Federation

The Libyan Football Federation is the national governing body for football in Libya, founded in 1962. It oversees the country’s national teams and domestic competitions, though its operations have been frequently disrupted by political instability and conflict since the 2011 civil war.
