Tripoli, February 6, 2026 – The High National Elections Commission intends to organize an international scientific conference on February 11 and 12 of this month, focusing on “The Challenges of Voter Apathy in Libyan Elections.”

The Commission explained in a statement that the conference, to be held in Tripoli in cooperation with the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies and with the participation of the United Nations Electoral Support Team in Libya, will discuss the challenges facing electoral participation in Libya and will present scientific and strategic solutions to strengthen the democratic process in the country.

It was clarified that the conference is part of the Commission’s efforts to promote a culture of political participation and reduce voter apathy by exchanging expertise, researching the causes of low participation, and proposing practical solutions to address them.

Its work focuses on providing technical expertise, logistical planning, and advisory support to Libyan institutions to help build a framework for democratic processes.
