Tripoli, January 21, 2026 – The Public Prosecutor’s Office uncovered a conspiracy involving a Libyan citizen and an employee at the “That Al-Rimal” Civil Registry Office to issue a family document containing data falsely stating that his Egyptian wife and his Tunisian wife were of Libyan origin.
The office added that the Libyan citizen received the forged family registration document and used it to obtain thirty-three thousand four hundred dollars from the foreign currency allocated for Libyan families.
According to the office, the investigator of civil status data forgery cases, within the jurisdiction of the Misrata Attorney General’s Office, decided to suspend the related administrative extracts, trace the material benefits gained from the crime, and ordered the arrest of the employee responsible for the forgery act and those who benefited from it.
