Tripoli, January 18, 2026 – The Public Prosecution ordered the detention of a Sudanese national, a member of a criminal gang involved in illegal migration activities from the shores of Al-Quway’ah. It also directed the apprehension of the remaining gang members.
The Attorney General’s office stated in a release that it received information about a boat manufacturing site used for transporting migrants from the shores of the Al-Quway’ah area to the northern Mediterranean. Consequently, the Public Prosecution oversaw a search operation, which enabled the Special Tasks Department to seize boats under construction and arrest a Sudanese national who contributed to organizing illegal migration operations.
The release confirmed that the investigator ordered the suspect’s pretrial detention and instructed the judicial police to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal gang.
