Misrata, December 22, 2025 – A number of citizens in the city of Misrata organized a protest vigil today, Monday, in front of the city’s Emergency Hospital, protesting what they described as violations occurring within some health institutions.

The protesters confirmed in a statement their commitment to applying Libyan laws and protecting the citizen’s right to health services and work, rejecting any practices that harm national security or open the door to illegal settlement.

The Misrata Movement Against the Settlement of Foreigners and Illegal Immigration stated that it is following with concern the legal violations occurring in state institutions within the city, specifically at Misrata Emergency Hospital, which constitute a direct infringement on Libyan national security.

The movement denounced in a statement the opening of job opportunities for illegal immigrants within the hospital’s corridors, in clear violation of Labor Relations Law No. (12) of 2010, which grants absolute priority to the Libyan citizen.

The movement rejected providing routine medical services to illegal immigrants without official identification documents, as is the international practice, due to the waste of public funds allocated for citizens and the violation of the Health System Law.
