Benghazi, December 20, 2025 – Animal health offices in the Agriculture and Livestock sector of the municipalities (Al Bayda, Al Sahel, Al Marj, and Benghazi) have monitored cases of poultry flock deaths due to infection with Newcastle disease and infectious bronchitis.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock stated that samples from the infected flocks were sent to the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Benghazi, where test results showed 18 samples were positive for Newcastle disease.

The Ministry confirmed the registration of infections with Avian Influenza – Genetic Type A in birds in a number of municipalities, including Benghazi, Al Marj, Al Bayda, and the Al Tamimi area during the past period.

The Ministry attributed the spread of these diseases to a lack of the necessary resources to procure vaccines, serums, and essential equipment to support the work of the National Center for Animal Health and limit the outbreak of diseases.
