Al-Zubaidi: Our Resolve Has Not Been Broken… The UAE Has Offered Much to the South
l 19 hours ago
Mohammed Abdulmalik Al-Zubaidi, the Assistant Head of the Executive Body of the Southern Transitional Council for Hadhramaut Valley and Desert Districts Affairs, stated that targeting Al-Mukalla port is a grave mistake and an aggression against a secure city.
Al-Zubaidi
Al-Zubaidi is a prominent tribal confederation in Yemen with deep historical roots, traditionally influential in the central highlands around Ibb and Ta’izz. Historically, the Al-Zubaidi tribe played a significant role in Yemen’s political and military affairs, including during the period of the Yemeni Imamate and more recent conflicts.
UAE
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven emirates on the Arabian Peninsula, formed in 1971 following the end of the British protectorate treaties. Historically a region of pearl diving and trade, it has rapidly transformed into a global hub known for its modern architecture, such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and its significant cultural sites, including the historic Al Fahidi district and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
Southern Transitional Council
The Southern Transitional Council is a political organization formed in 2017 that advocates for the secession of southern Yemen and the re-establishment of the former independent state of South Yemen. It emerged from the broader Southern Movement and has become a major power in southern Yemen, often in conflict with the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
Hadhramaut Valley
The Hadhramaut Valley is a historically significant region in southern Yemen, known for its ancient mudbrick skyscraper cities like Shibam and its role as a center for trade and Islamic scholarship. For centuries, it was a key hub on the incense trade routes and the origin of a widespread diaspora community across the Indian Ocean.
Desert Districts
The Desert Districts refer to arid regions, often with historical significance as trade routes or cultural crossroads, such as those in North Africa or the Middle East. Many contain ancient settlements or archaeological sites that reveal how communities adapted to harsh environments over centuries. These areas frequently hold cultural heritage tied to nomadic traditions and historic caravan networks.
Al-Mukalla port
Al-Mukalla port is a major seaport located in the Hadhramaut region of Yemen, historically serving as a crucial hub for the export of frankincense and fish. Its modern development accelerated in the 20th century, making it a key economic gateway for the area. The port has faced operational challenges due to the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
