The Director of the Activities Department at the University of Tripoli confirmed that the Activities Department plays a significant and pivotal role in revitalizing the sports movement within the university. This is achieved by organizing numerous championships and sports competitions at the level of the university’s colleges, which contributes to encouraging students to engage in various sports activities.
He explained that the championships organized by the Activities Department have provided a large number of university students with the opportunity for active participation in sports activities and to benefit from their health and physical advantages. In addition, these activities achieve recreational and educational dimensions that contribute to developing a spirit of cooperation and teamwork, instilling the values of fair competition, and enhancing a sense of belonging to the university institution while building a balanced student character.
Organizing Diverse Championships at the College Level
He pointed out that the Activities Department has recently organized a number of diverse championships at the level of the university’s colleges. These included chess, billiards, and table tennis championships for university staff, in addition to organizing a basketball championship and a football championship, which witnessed intense competition and resulted in the Colleges of Physical Education and Human Medicine qualifying for the final match.
He added that the programs and activities of the Activities Department continue throughout the year without interruption. He indicated preparations in the coming days to organize two championships in tennis, one dedicated to students and the other for university staff, as part of the department’s keenness to diversify sports programs and expand the base of participation.
