Hollywood announced the nominations for the Actors Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), on Wednesday, a step that outlines the final competition on the road to the Oscars.

The film “One Battle After Another” succeeded in rewriting the awards’ history by breaking the record with seven nominations, the highest number of nominations ever achieved by a single film in the history of this ceremony.

The film is not only competing for the “Outstanding Performance by a Cast” award, but its dominance extends to the individual acting categories for its stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, Tianna Taylor, and Chase Infinity, in addition to the stunt ensemble category.

In a related context, the fantasy musical film “Sinners” emerged as a fierce competitor, garnering five nominations, tying it for the second-highest number in the awards’ history, and pitting its star Michael B. Jordan in a direct contest with DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet for the Best Actor award.

The competition picture for the “Outstanding Performance by a Cast” category is completed by the addition of the historical drama “Hamnet,” inspired by Shakespeare’s works, the black comedy “Marty Supreme,” which narrates the life of a table tennis athlete, and the science fiction film “Frankenstein.”

On the production front, Warner Bros. tightened its grip on the season with a total of 12 nominations, followed by Fox Features and A24, while Netflix continued its leadership in the television categories, completely dominating the “Best Actor in a Limited Series” category.

Shocking Nomination Surprises
The nominations carried shocking surprises with the complete exclusion of non-English language works, reigniting the debate about the actors guild’s relationship with international works compared to the Academy, which has become more open in recent years.

These nominations represent a crucial indicator for the Oscars; historically, a film rarely succeeds in winning the “Best Picture” Oscar without first receiving a nomination for its cast at the Actors Awards, with the match rate between the two awards exceeding 76% since the competition was expanded.

The final voting process is scheduled to continue until the end of February, with the results to be announced in a live ceremony via the Netflix platform on March 1, 2026, giving the winners huge momentum before the Oscar ballot boxes close.
