Ras Lanuf, December 10, 2026 – The administrations of the Sidra and Ras Lanuf oil ports announced this Saturday evening that oil tankers have entered for loading despite the severe weather conditions in the area.

Its modern development is tied to Libya’s petroleum industry, which began large-scale exports in the 1960s, transforming it into a critical economic hub. The site has also been a strategic focal point during periods of conflict in Libya, including the 2011 civil war and subsequent clashes.
Sidra

The gulf itself has been a significant maritime feature since antiquity, giving the city its name and economic importance. In modern history, the area gained geopolitical attention during the 20th and 21st centuries due to maritime boundary disputes and military conflicts.
Brega
Brega is a coastal city in Libya, historically known as a significant center for the country’s oil industry since the mid-20th century. Its modern development is closely tied to the Marsa al-Brega petroleum terminal and liquefied natural gas plant, which were constructed in the 1960s.
