Tripoli, January 20, 2026 – The National Center for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Development Programme aimed at enhancing Libya’s capabilities in managing disaster risks and preparing for emergencies at the national level.
The signing of the memorandum took place on the sidelines of a workshop organized by the Center in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme in Libya, titled: “Enhancing National Preparedness and Response to Reduce Disaster and Crisis Risks,” with the participation of a number of relevant national and international entities.
According to what was published by the Center on its website, the memorandum of understanding focuses on supporting coordination between relevant parties, developing early warning systems, and adopting a comprehensive approach based on risk understanding, which contributes to unifying institutional efforts before crises occur.
The Center stated that this international partnership reflects Libya’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation to exchange expertise, thereby enhancing the ability to face crises and disasters in a sustainable and effective manner.
