The former Egyptian technical director of Darnes Club, denied that the termination of his contract with the club’s management was mutual, confirming that his departure came under difficult circumstances, most notably that neither he nor the technical staff had received any financial dues since the first day of taking on the role.

He explained, in a statement issued today, Monday, that the technical staff continued their work despite not receiving any salaries, indicating that this was out of respect for the club’s motto and its fans, adding: “We have not received any financial dues since our first day of work, yet we continued out of a sense of belonging and appreciation for Darnes’ fans.”

A Difficult Task Before the League’s Start
He pointed out that he took on the task of coaching the team just six days before the start of the Libyan Premier League, driven by his love and respect for the club, which he described as having done him a great favor, and a desire to support its loyal fans, despite his prior knowledge of the difficult circumstances surrounding the team.

He added that a lack of transparency from the management hid many facts from him, confirming that the technical staff worked in a complex environment within one of the league’s toughest groups, and despite this, the team’s performance showed gradual improvement from one match to another.

Technical Improvement vs. Administrative Neglect
He affirmed that the team was on an upward trajectory, pointing to draws with Al-Ahly Benghazi and Al-Taawoun, and then achieving a victory over Al-Suqoor. However, this improvement was met with material and moral neglect from the management, leading to a state of discontent among the players, the termination of some contracts, and a general feeling of being disregarded.

The former technical director revealed that the technical staff faced significant obstacles that no professional could overcome, represented by the collapse of the administrative system, the departure of players and the unilateral termination of their contracts without controls, in addition to the lack of fairness in disbursing dues among the players, which made applying the principle of reward and punishment impossible amidst the players’ feeling of injustice.

He also pointed to the failure to strengthen the team’s ranks during the winter transfer period, despite repeated promises from the management, which increased the difficulty of the technical task.

Refusal to Place Blame Solely on the Technical Staff
He stressed his refusal to place the responsibility for the results solely on the technical staff, explaining that football is an integrated system that includes management, financial, and technical aspects, affirming that what happened is a natural result of an environment lacking the most basic elements of professional work.

The Decision Issued by Darnes Council
The Board of Directors of Darnes Club announced last Monday the termination of the contract following the team’s three consecutive defeats and its entry into a relegation battle, as it occupies seventh place in the third group of the Libyan Premier League.

It is worth noting that Darnes Club announced last December its contract with the Egyptian coach, as a successor to the national coach, a few days before the start of the Libyan Football League competitions for the 2025 – 2026 season.
