Tripoli, February 18, 2026 – The Deputy Minister of Local Governance for Municipal Affairs followed up on the progress of work in municipalities during a meeting held with the mayor and members of the Al-Jamil Municipality, the mayor of Al-Rajban Municipality, and a member of the municipal council of the Tabqa and Al-Azahira district. The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint coordination to support local administration.
The meeting addressed the most prominent challenges facing municipalities in providing essential services to citizens, as well as ways to improve municipal performance and enhance the capacities of municipalities to contribute to achieving local development and responding to the needs of the population.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of supporting municipalities and enabling them to perform their service and developmental roles, stressing the necessity of strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Local Governance and municipal councils to address difficulties and develop municipal work according to sustainable plans and programs.
For their part, the attending mayors and municipal members reviewed the most important needs and requirements that would contribute to improving the level of services, expressing their appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Local Governance in supporting municipalities and maintaining continuous communication with them.

Today, it functions as a modern municipality providing civic services to its residents.
Tabqa and Al-Azahira district
