Tripoli, January 21, 2026 – The Embassy of the State of Libya in Tokyo hosted the first meeting of the Council of Arab Ambassadors for the year 2026 on Wednesday, with the attendance of heads and representatives of Arab missions accredited to Japan.

In his opening remarks, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim emphasized the paramount importance of enhancing mechanisms for coordination, consultation, and joint cooperation among Arab missions. This contributes to unifying positions on regional and international issues, foremost among them priority Arab causes.

The meeting reviewed a number of regional and international developments, particularly the rapid developments witnessed in the region and ways to strengthen mechanisms for joint Arab action. It also discussed prospects for cooperation and coordination among the Arab group in the upcoming phase.

The ambassadors also discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, in light of the continued aggressive policies and illegal practices pursued by the Israeli occupation government, in flagrant violation of the provisions of international law and the decisions of international legitimacy. They affirmed their firm and supportive Arab stance towards the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
