Tripoli, February 16, 2026 – A new book was issued on Thursday as part of the publications of the Libyan Center for Research and Studies. It carries the number (18) in the series of seminars and conferences, titled: Najm al-Din al-Kib on the 90th Anniversary of His Birth 1934-1988.
The book, which is a comprehensive summary of the proceedings of the cultural symposium organized on September 11, 2024, in Tripoli, contains two contemporary testimonies about the late writer Najm al-Din al-Kib, along with eight research papers on his written legacy in magazines and books.
It was clarified that these research contributions to the symposium came from researchers and academics from various parts of Libya, offering new readings of al-Kib’s works. The book, which spans 208 medium-sized pages, will be available in bookstores in the coming period.
Tripoli
Tripoli is the capital and largest city of Libya, located on the country’s Mediterranean coast. Historically, it was founded by the Phoenicians in the 7th century BC and has since been ruled by the Romans, Arabs, Ottomans, and Italians, which is reflected in its diverse architecture like the ancient Red Castle (Assaraya al-Hamra).
Libyan Center for Research and Studies
The Libyan Center for Research and Studies is a think tank established to conduct policy analysis and academic research on Libyan affairs. It was founded to contribute to post-2011 reconstruction efforts by providing studies on governance, economics, and social development. The center aims to inform public policy and foster dialogue based on scholarly work.
Najm al-Din al-Kib
Najm al-Din al-Kib is a prominent historical mosque and religious school (madrasa) located in Cairo, Egypt. It was built in the Mamluk era, specifically in 1295 AD, by the Amir (prince) Najm al-Din Ayyub al-Kurdi al-Kabir, after whom it is named. The complex is noted for its distinctive architectural features, including a finely decorated minaret and a large dome, and it remains an important example of medieval Islamic architecture in Cairo.
