Ajdabiya, January 24, 2026 – The Libyan Academy, Ajdabiya branch, organized a scientific workshop this Saturday morning titled: “Groundwater in the City of Ajdabiya: Reality, Risks, and Sustainable Solutions.”

The workshop – which was attended by a select group of academics, specialists, and those interested in scientific and research affairs – witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Libyan Academy – Ajdabiya branch and the Libyan Center for Water and Soil Research and Desertification Control – Ajdabiya branch. This step aims to enhance scientific and research cooperation and support issues of water, environment, and sustainable development in the region.

Ajdabiya is a city in northeastern Libya, historically significant as a major crossroads for trade and pilgrimage routes across the Sahara. It gained prominence during the Ottoman era and later served as a key site during the 2011 Libyan Civil War due to its strategic location.
