Tripoli, December 25, 2025 — The committee formed by a decision of the Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity has begun its tasks of investigating the incident of the plane crash that was carrying the Chief of General Staff, First Lieutenant Mohammed Al-Haddad, and his companions, in coordination and cooperation with the Turkish authorities.

The Criminal Investigation Apparatus explained, in a post on its official page on Wednesday evening, that the committee is chaired by the head of the apparatus, Major General Mahmoud Al-Ajili, noting that a specialized team continues to complete the necessary procedures to transfer the bodies of the deceased to their homeland, along with taking DNA samples and comparing them with samples from their relatives according to approved standards.

The committee’s tasks include search and investigation work regarding the aircraft wreckage, as part of completing the investigation proceedings, and uncovering all the circumstances of the incident according to the same source.

It is worth noting that the plane crash incident resulted in the death of the Chief of General Staff, First Lieutenant Mohammed Al-Haddad, in addition to the commander of the ground forces affiliated with the Government of National Unity, Major General Al-Fitouri Gharibil, the Director of Military Manufacturing, Brigadier General Mahmoud Jumaa Al-Qatwi, the advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Al-Asawi, and the photographer Mohammed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub.
