One of the athletes, holding a picture of Guardiola during a special tribute event at the Palestine Stadium in Gaza City, said, “We send a message of thanks to the esteemed world-class captain for his humanitarian positions and his solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Gaza Strip. We announce to the world that the captain is an honorary coach for the team.”
Guardiola’s speech at the cultural concert in support of Palestine, held last Thursday under the title “Act for Palestine” where he wore a Palestinian keffiyeh, received widespread public interaction, as he declared his support for the Palestinian cause and his solidarity “with Palestine and all just humanitarian causes.”
