The authority announced its readiness, along with all relevant parties, to begin the mandatory application of the Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system for air shipments, starting January 1, 2026, following a successful trial period that began in 2022.
Technical and Human Readiness for Full Implementation
It was confirmed that the authority is well-prepared for this transition through virtual (online) training courses held twice weekly over the past five months. It was noted that 80% of air freight operators have prior experience with the system from its application in maritime shipping, which will facilitate the compliance process.
Incentives and Discounts to Support Importing Companies
It was revealed that a decision has been made to provide encouraging incentives for operators with the start of the mandatory launch. These include a reduction of $80 from the fees for automation and related services for each incoming air shipment, for a period of six months. This measure aims to motivate companies to join the new digital system.
Market Governance and Ensuring Quality of Incoming Goods
It was explained that the ACI system relies on risk management and pre-arrival data analysis, which contributes to governing the Egyptian market and ensuring only good quality goods enter.
It was added that the system allows for verification of the quality of foreign suppliers and product quality certificates. This prevents the entry of carcinogenic or health-hazardous materials while simultaneously speeding up the release procedures for low-risk shipments.
