Libya

Libya is a North African country with a rich history rooted in ancient civilizations like the Phoenicians and Romans, followed by centuries of Arab and Ottoman influence. In the modern era, it was an Italian colony before gaining independence in 1951, later becoming known for Muammar Gaddafi’s lengthy rule from 1969 until the 2011 revolution. The country is home to UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the ruins of Leptis Magna, which testify to its significant historical legacy.

Egypt

Egypt, home to one of the world’s oldest civilizations, is famed for its ancient monuments along the Nile River, including the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, which date back over 4,500 years. Its long history encompasses the Pharaonic, Ptolemaic, Roman, and Islamic periods, with Cairo later becoming a major cultural and political center of the Arab world.

Turkey

Turkey is a transcontinental nation bridging Europe and Asia, with a rich history rooted in the ancient civilizations of Anatolia and later as the heart of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. Its modern identity was forged as a republic in 1923 under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, blending its deep historical legacy with a contemporary secular state. Key cultural sites include the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, a monument that has served as a cathedral, mosque, and museum, reflecting the country’s layered past.

Dardanelles Çanakkale

The Dardanelles (Çanakkale) is a vital strategic strait in northwestern Turkey, connecting the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara. It is historically renowned as the site of the Gallipoli Campaign during World War I, a major and costly battle for Allied forces attempting to secure the passage. The nearby city of Çanakkale serves as a gateway to the ancient city of Troy and numerous memorials dedicated to the conflict.
