The website “Downdetector” reported a service outage on the “X” platform subsiding on Tuesday, after thousands of users worldwide reported problems with the social media platform.
The site, which tracks website outages, stated that the issues began around 9:00 AM Eastern Time in the United States, peaking with over 28,000 user reports of problems on the platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk, before the number of reports dropped to around 700.
The site added that the number of reports in Britain fell to about 130 from a peak above 8,000, while Canada saw a decrease in issues after they had exceeded 3,200 reports earlier.
“Downdetector” tracks outages by gathering status reports from a number of sources.
The company has not yet responded to a request for comment on the cause of the outage.
The actual number of affected users may differ from the number displayed on “Downdetector,” as reports are submitted by users.
In November of last year, a service outage briefly prevented access to the platform after a security configuration error disrupted its data traffic system.
A few days later, another outage took “X” offline for thousands of users in the United States.
