Barcelona enters the new season after reinforcing its attack with the duo Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, to meet the expectations of coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco.
This move comes to rebuild the winger position and add the element of penetration and blistering speed that the team lacked last season.
Massive Investment in the Left Wing
The Anthony Gordon deal represented the club’s biggest bet this summer, after reaching an agreement with Newcastle United on a contract spanning 5 seasons until 2031.
The deal was worth around 80 million euros (around $86 million) (70 million in fixed fees plus 10 million in variables), making Gordon (25 years old) the club’s most prominent investment in the current transfer market.
Exceptional Deal and German Touch
In contrast, Barcelona exploited the contract situation of Karim Adeyemi with Borussia Dortmund to finalize the deal on favorable financial terms.
Adeyemi (24 years old) signed a contract extending until June 2031 for 22 million euros (around $24 million) in fixed fees and 7 million in add-ons.
The recommendation for the signing came at the direct request of Flick, who had previously given Adeyemi his debut opportunity with the German national team at the age of nineteen.

- According to a February 2026 report from the Football Observatory, Gordon topped the list of fastest wingers and midfielders in the Champions League with a record speed of 37.9 km/h, surpassing Achraf Hakimi among the fastest full-backs (36.4 km/h) and Kylian Mbappé among the fastest forwards (35.7 km/h), making him the fastest recorded player in that edition of the tournament.
- Karim Adeyemi: He holds one of the fastest sprint records in Bundesliga history at 36.7 km/h, consistently remaining among the top 10 fastest players recorded in the league.
