The Man-Made River Authority announced that unstable electrical current has led to the loss of more than 120,000 cubic meters of water.
The Authority explained that frequent voltage fluctuations have affected well systems, amid high summer temperatures and an increase in illegal connections to the grid.
An electrical disturbance on Thursday caused tens of wells to go out of service, including 41 wells out of 93 in the Sarir field, and 11 wells out of 44 in the Tazerbo field.
The Authority confirmed that technical teams managed to bring all affected wells back into service.
It added that the repeated power outages affecting water infrastructure fall under the responsibility of the General Electricity Company, warning that these disruptions impact urban supplies and agricultural demand.

Although it has provided water for millions of people, the system has suffered damage during civil conflicts and faces maintenance challenges.
