Tripoli, February 7, 2026 – The High National Elections Commission confirmed on Saturday that all polling centers are open and operating normally in the municipalities of Tajoura, Sayyad, and Al-Hashan, in addition to the Samir Qand polling center in the Tobruk municipality.

The Commission’s main operations room stated that the voting process is proceeding according to the approved plan without any significant obstacles being recorded, in an atmosphere characterized by discipline and organization.

Polling centers opened their doors this morning to begin the voting process for electing the third group of municipal councils in the municipalities of Tajoura, Sayyad, and Al-Hashan.

The Commission stated that voting will begin from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., urging citizens to verify the presence of their names on the voter lists upon arrival at the polling center and to present their voter card and identity document to the designated official.

Samir Qand polling center

The Samir Qand polling center is a voting location in Afghanistan, historically used during national elections. It gained particular attention during the 2019 presidential election due to reports of irregularities and allegations of fraud at this and other sites, which contributed to the contested and delayed results of that vote.

Tobruk

Tobruk is a port city in eastern Libya, historically significant for its natural harbor.
