Egypt has signed two memoranda of understanding for cooperation in the field of gas supply for power generation and meeting Syria’s needs for petroleum products.

The first memorandum aims to cooperate in supplying gas to Syria via Egypt for electricity generation, by utilizing Egyptian infrastructure, whether regasification ships or gas transmission networks.

The second memorandum concerns meeting Syria’s needs for petroleum products.

No details were provided regarding quantities.

Syria currently produces only a small fraction of the electricity it needs due to the destruction of its energy infrastructure during the 14-year war, but electricity supplies have improved significantly in recent months thanks to gas supplies from Azerbaijan.

It is noted that Egypt signed memoranda of understanding in the field of natural gas a few days ago.
