Africa Cup of Nations

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is the premier international men’s football competition in Africa, first held in 1957. It was founded to unite African nations emerging from colonialism and is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Morocco

Morocco is a North African country with a rich history shaped by indigenous Amazigh (Berber) cultures, Arab influence from the 7th century, and successive dynasties like the Almoravids and Alaouites. It is known for its diverse cultural heritage, reflected in historic sites such as the medieval medinas of Fez and Marrakech, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. The country gained independence from French and Spanish protectorates in 1956.

Kenya

Kenya is a country in East Africa renowned for its diverse landscapes, wildlife reserves like the Maasai Mara, and a rich cultural heritage of over 40 ethnic groups. Historically, it was a British colony until gaining independence in 1963, with its pre-colonial past marked by influential trade networks and Swahili city-states along the coast. Today, it is a major economic and transport hub for the region.

Namibia

Namibia is a country in southwestern Africa known for its vast Namib Desert, Atlantic coastline, and diverse wildlife. It gained independence from South Africa in 1990 after a prolonged struggle, following earlier German colonial rule which ended after World War I. Its history is deeply marked by the colonial-era genocide of the Herero and Nama peoples.
