Tripoli, January 19, 2026 – The Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation met this Monday morning with the newly appointed Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM).

During the meeting, held at the Ministry’s office in Tripoli, the Director congratulated the Mission Head on his appointment to this position. The necessary procedures for his official accreditation as Head of the Mission were reviewed, particularly in light of his previous experience as Deputy Head of the Mission.

The Director of the European Affairs Department affirmed to the Mission Head the Department’s readiness to provide all necessary support and to overcome any possible difficulties, wishing him success in performing his duties.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on prospects for future cooperation between the European Affairs Department and the Mission, which would contribute to enhancing joint coordination and serving national priorities.

Tripoli

It handles negotiations, ensures the transposition of EU law, and manages European funding and cooperation programs.

European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM)

The European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) is an EU civilian mission, established in 2005, to support border management and customs control at the Moldova-Ukraine border. Its primary goal is to enhance security, facilitate trade, and promote cross-border cooperation following the resolution of the Transnistria conflict.
