The passing of a legend of Al Ahly Benghazi and the Libyan national team, Wanees Khair

The official page of Al Ahly Benghazi club mourned the passing of a legend of the club and the Libyan national team, Wanees Khair, at the age of 59, expressing deep sorrow and grief over the loss of one of the pillars of Libyan football.

The club said in an official statement: “With broken and pained hearts, submitting to God’s will and decree, Al Ahly club, with all its fans and the Libyan public, mourns the passing of its son and one of its immortal legends, the leader and captain Wanees Khair.”

The statement added: “The club extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of the deceased, praying to God to envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness.”

The club clarified that the funeral proceedings for the deceased will be held today, Wednesday, with the Maghrib prayer at the club’s mosque located at its headquarters in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, inviting all who loved the deceased to attend and offer condolences to his family in this great loss.

Wanees Khair is considered one of the most prominent Libyan football players, leaving a great legacy in the history of Al Ahly Benghazi and the national team, having served Libyan football for many years and achieving notable local and continental accomplishments.
