Tripoli, January 18, 2026 – The Counter-Threat Security Apparatus announced the dismantling of a drug promotion network and the seizure of firearms in the west of the country.
The Apparatus stated in a release that its Investigation and Intelligence Gathering Office executed a precise ambush in one of the areas of the Western Region, resulting in the arrest of two individuals of Libyan nationality in possession of large quantities of narcotics and firearms.
The release indicated that the seized items included 1,955 assorted narcotic pills, 14 pieces of hashish, 1,738 Lyrica pills, 42 ecstasy pills, 93 Rogue pills, and 82 Tramadol pills, in addition to a Kalashnikov-type automatic rifle and a sum of 3,500 Libyan dinars.
The Apparatus confirmed the completion of preliminary investigation procedures and the referral of the accused to the competent prosecution to take the necessary legal measures against them.
The Apparatus called on anyone with information about drug promoters or users to come forward and report it through official channels, emphasizing that community cooperation is a fundamental pillar in combating this scourge and protecting the future of our children.
