Gharyan, January 26, 2026 – The Education Supervision Office of the Gharyan Municipality announced the suspension of classes in all educational institutions under its supervision due to adverse weather conditions.

The decision to suspend was made in coordination with the Gharyan Municipal Council to ensure the safety of pupils and students in light of the current weather conditions in the city.

Gharyan is a historic town in northwestern Libya known for its traditional underground cave dwellings, which were carved into the mountainsides to provide natural insulation from the desert heat. These structures, some centuries old, served as homes and community spaces, reflecting the adaptive architecture of the Berber inhabitants in the region.
