Beijing
The Chinese Football Association announced on Thursday that it has banned 73 individuals for life, including former national team coach Li Tie, for their involvement in match-fixing and corrupt practices within domestic football.
The association also decided to punish 13 top-tier clubs by deducting league points and imposing financial fines, as part of efforts to rectify the situation and enforce discipline within the sport.
In a statement, the association explained that these measures followed a “comprehensive review” of the football sector, aiming to cleanse the sporting environment and ensure fair competition. It emphasized its commitment to restoring confidence in the integrity of the game at both domestic and international levels.
