British press reports revealed on Saturday that a penalty has been issued against Chelsea Football Club ahead of their match against Crystal Palace tomorrow, Sunday, at Stamford Bridge, as part of the 23rd round of the English Premier League.
The regulatory committee of the Premier League has fined Chelsea a sum of 150,000 British pounds for throwing a bottle towards the Aston Villa substitutes’ bench following the match between the two teams last December.
Chelsea involved in a serious incident
It was added: “The committee that imposed the financial fine on Chelsea described the incident as extremely serious, emphasizing that it was fortunate the bottle did not hit anyone.”
At the same time, Chelsea admitted to the charge but stated they were unable to identify the person responsible for throwing the bottle.
The match of the ‘bottle incident’ ended with Aston Villa defeating Chelsea 2-1 on December 27, 2025, at Stamford Bridge.
