Prices stabilized on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in local markets, following a decrease of approximately 200 pounds per ton. This move has led to a state of relative calm within the construction materials market, especially as contracting companies and consumers await any new price movements.
Effectively, the average price reached 3820 thousand pounds delivered ex-factory, with sales to consumers reaching around 4000 pounds, depending on distribution areas, transportation costs, and trading margins.
Official data revealed an increase in cement exports over the last 3 years, rising from $465 million in 2021 to $670 million in 2022, a growth rate of 44%. It then continued to rise to $770 million in 2023, a growth of 14%, before reaching $780 million in the first 10 months of 2024, a growth of 12%.
This stability comes amidst a relative balance between domestic production volume and demand levels, alongside an improvement in export activity, which has become an important element in supporting the industry.
According to data, the number of importing countries reached 95 worldwide, with African countries leading the importers. This reflects the competitive capability of the cement in terms of quality and price, in addition to geographical proximity and available production capacities.
On the production front, data showed an increase in production to 25.39 million tons during the period from January to July 2024, compared to 23.3 million tons during the same period in 2023, an increase of 2.091 million tons. This supports the availability of supply in the local market and contributes to maintaining price stability.
Cement is a strategic commodity in the construction and building sector, directly linked to housing and infrastructure projects. The market is expected to continue its current state of stability in the coming period, given abundant production and growing exports.
