Tripoli, January 11, 2025 – The Minister of Social Affairs chaired an expanded meeting today in her capacity as the head of the Supreme Committee for the Affairs of the Displaced and Internally Displaced Persons. The meeting followed up on the implementation of the Prime Minister’s decision regarding the committee’s restructuring, defining its mandates, and operational mechanisms.
During the meeting, which was attended by representatives of relevant authorities, proposed working mechanisms were discussed to enhance institutional coordination and support the ministry’s efforts in providing social services to target groups. This includes disbursing allowances for the displaced and internally displaced persons to help alleviate their living burdens.
The meeting addressed the committee’s tasks and its role in developing national strategies aimed at finding practical and sustainable solutions to issues of displacement and migration. It also focused on providing social protection and psychosocial support, contributing to improving the conditions of the displaced and facilitating their voluntary and safe return to their areas of origin.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of coordination among relevant government agencies and strengthening partnerships with civil society institutions and municipalities. There was a strong emphasis on the commitment to submit periodic reports and raise recommendations that contribute to addressing existing challenges and ensuring the timely disbursement of allowances for the displaced.
