Benghazi, February 9, 2026 – The Benghazi Municipality headquarters witnessed a handover ceremony today, Monday, between the municipality’s management council and the newly elected municipal council. The ceremony was attended by members of both councils.

The event was also attended by the chairman and members of the handover committee formed by a decision of the Minister of Local Governance in the Libyan government tasked by the House of Representatives, in addition to directors of departments, offices, and heads of municipal branches. During the meeting, all legal procedures were completed, and handover protocols were signed to ensure the continuity of municipal work and uninterrupted institutional performance.

In a speech on the occasion, it was emphasized that the previous phase witnessed intensive efforts to improve the level of services and enhance municipal work, with wishes for success and sound performance for the newly elected council in carrying out its duties and meeting the aspirations of the citizens.

For his part, the newly elected dean of the municipality expressed thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the management council during the past period, affirming that the municipal council will continue to work in a spirit of teamwork and in cooperation with all relevant parties to serve the city of Benghazi and elevate the level of public services provided to citizens.
