Benghazi, January 7, 2026 – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, “Aqila Saleh,” has called members of the Council for an official session to be held on Monday morning in the city of Benghazi.
According to the invitation, the session will be attended by the government tasked by the representatives, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya and his deputy, members of the Central Bank’s board of directors, and the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, as per the summons approved by the Council in its official session last week.

Benghazi is a major city in eastern Libya, historically significant as a center of trade and culture since its founding as the Greek colony of Euesperides in the 6th century BC. It played a pivotal role in Libya’s modern history, serving as the provisional capital and a key focal point during the 2011 revolution.
House of Representatives
