Tobruk, January 23, 2026 – The Tobruk Court of Appeal convicted a foreign public official on charges of using a forged family document to obtain a national identification number and to procure a Libyan passport.
The court sentenced the public official to three years in prison and imposed a seven-year prison sentence on the foreign national.
The public prosecution had brought the case against a foreign national who used a forged family document to obtain a national ID number and a Libyan passport, which he used for travel after receiving it from the public official who conspired with him in the forgery.
