Tripoli, December 31, 2025 – The President of the High Council of State met today, Wednesday, with the Deputy of the Presidential Council at the headquarters of the High Council of State in the capital, Tripoli.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the political, economic, and security situation in the country, as well as efforts aimed at advancing the path of national consensus in the face of current challenges.

The meeting also discussed the unilateral measures taken by the House of Representatives and its continuous violation of the Libyan Political Agreement, which deepens the current political crisis.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the necessity of enhancing coordination and communication between the two councils to help break the deadlock and create a safe and stable environment that supports the democratic path and opens new horizons for dialogue and joint work.

The Libyan Political Agreement, signed in Skhirat, Morocco in December 2015, is a United Nations-brokered peace deal aimed at ending the country’s civil conflict. It established the internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) as the sole legitimate executive authority, though its implementation has been challenged by rival factions and governments.
