Tripoli, February 4, 2026 – The Minister of Transport and Financial Advisor to the President of the Government of National Unity met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Libya on Wednesday to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting addressed following up on the implementation of the minutes from the meetings of the Libyan-Turkish Joint Committee, and discussed mechanisms for the return of Turkish companies and the resumption of their contribution to implementing reconstruction and development projects in various Libyan regions.

The meeting also reviewed ways to increase the number of flights to Libyan airports and facilitate the operation of direct flights between Turkish Airlines and Sebha International Airport, which would contribute to supporting air transport and enhancing regional connectivity.

The two sides agreed to continue joint coordination in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports development and stability efforts in Libya.

Sebha International Airport is an airport located near the city of Sebha in southwestern Libya. It was originally built by the United States Air Force during the 1950s and was known as Wheelus Air Base Annex before being transferred to the Libyan government.
